The Allen-Bradley 150-A240NBD is a SMC Plus Smart Motor controller. This controller is capable of implementing selectable kick-start, current limit start, and full voltage start. Through this control modes, the 150-A240NBD can implement motor protective start-up and shutdown functions. These control modes minimize the unwanted negative effects to the motor due to high-level of current and mechanical stress that may be experienced by the connected motor.

The 150-A240NBD is a standard model drive. It may be added with optional features such as Soft Stop, SMB Smart Motor Braking ,Pump Control, Accu-Stop, Preset Slow Speed, and Slow Speed with Braking.

The 150-A240NBD has a supply voltage requirement of 200-460VAC, 3-Phase, along 50 and 60 Hz frequencies while the control module voltage is 100-240VAC, 1-phase with frequency of 50/60 Hz. It has an output current of 240 Amperes and output power of 150 HP. It is also provided with One (1) Normally Open (N.O.); One (1) Normally Closed (N.C.) contacts which can be used to monitor the controller’s operational status.

The 150-A240NBD has selectable kick start times of 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 Seconds and Selectable Current Limit Starting of 50…500% of Full Load Current. It has a Noise and RF Immunity of Surge Transient Peak 3000V. Showering Arc 1500V; DV/DT Protection of RC Snubber Network and Transient Protection provided by the Metal Oxide Varistors with rating of 220 Joules @ 24 A…360 A; 220 Joules @ 480V 500 A…1000 A and 300 Joules @ 600V 500 A…1000 A.

The controller is designed to operate 3-phase squirrel cage motors. Also, the 150-A240NBD motor controller contains an energy saver feature that helps in continuously monitoring the motor load with its feedback circuitry. However, this feature is most suitable for use where the motor is lightly loaded or unloaded for long periods of time. Along with the energy-saver feature, the 150-A240NBD motor controller has a phase rebalance feature that, when enabled, continuously monitors the incoming 3-phase line voltage and automatically adjusts the output voltage to balance the 3-phase currents drawn by the motor. Note that if the energy saver and phase rebalance features are both enabled, the phase rebalance feature overrides the energy-saver feature during operation. The Allen-Bradley 150-A240NBD motor controller, like other SMC Plus motor controllers, provides motor overload capabilities. The controller’s thermal memory provides enhanced levels of protection even when the control power is removed. For enhanced system and motor protection, the 150-A240NBD motor controller contains stall and jam detection. Note that stall protection is user-adjustable from 0 seconds to 10 seconds. Jam detection, on the other hand, allows the users to determine the jam level and the delay time for application flexibility
