The Allen-Bradley 150-A24NBD is an SMC Plus Smart Motor Controller. This controller has a 200-460VAC, 3-Phase line voltage requirement and supports both 50 and 60 Hz voltage frequency. It delivers maximum continuous output current of 180 Amperes and output power of 150 HP at 460VAC rated voltage. The controller’s control module voltage is designed for 100-240VAC, 1-Phase supply voltage with frequency of 50/60 Hz. This motor controller has an open type enclosure and supports direct mounting to the enclosure subpanel.

The 150-A24NBD has a standard controller assembly. It features Soft Start with Selectable Kickstart, Current Limit Start, and Full Voltage Start capabilities which can be customized further by their individual time and current settings. Optional features that may be added to the capabilities to the 150-A24NBD soft starter are Soft Stop, SMB Smart Motor Braking, Pump Control, Accu-Stop, Preset Slow Speed and Slow Speed with Braking. This motor carries certifications and compliance to standard such as CE Marked (Open Type) Per Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC, 93/68/EEC, CSA Certified (Open Type) (File No. LR1234), and UL Listed (Open Type) (File No. E96956).

When wiring power and input connections to the 150-A24NBD, appropriate wire size range is 16-120 mm2 or #6-4/0 American Wire Gauge (AWG). For control terminals, applicable wire size range is 1.5-4.0 mm2 or #18-12 AWG. This controller is equipped with a heatsink fan with power consumption of 45VA. The 150-A24NBD also comes with One (1) Normally Open (N.O.) relay contact rated for 240V AC, Maximum voltage and 24VAC Minimum. Contact Make is 4700 VA, while contact Break is 470 VA. Similarly, the Normally Closed (N.C.) relay contact has 240V AC Max., 24V Min., Make 2750 VA, Break 275 VA.

The controller offers 3 distinct operational modes, the soft start with the selectable kick-start option, the current limit start, and the full voltage start. The kick-start mode provides a 550% rise of the full current load and an adjustable start time between 0.4 and 2 seconds, thereby allowing for additional torque at startup. The controller provides a smart motor braking (SMB) option of 150 to 400% of the full load current, which allows for the controlled motor to stop faster than in a coast-to-rest and it also offers the selectable Accu-Stop function at 150 to 400% of the full current load and the Selectable Slow Speed with Braking function.

The 150-A24NBD provides DV/DT protection via the snubber network, and it can provide transient protection via the 220-joules metal oxide varistors. The controller has an output rating of 24A output current, with an output power ranging between 1 and 15HP at an input voltage range of 200 to 480 Volts AC. The 150-A24NBD has an auxiliary circuit with 240 Volts AC Normally Open (N.O.) relay contact. Its circuitry has an inverse voltage of 1400 Volts and is protected through a 30A Class J fuse, with a current range of 0 to 30A. Its power terminal uses a 2.5 x 25 millimeters squared size copper wire, and its control terminal uses a 1.5 x 4 millimeters squared wire size and the entire control circuitry is NEMA MG1 and IEC 34 (S1)-rated. Its operational temperature range is 0 to 50 degrees Celsius (32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit) at 5 to 95% relative humidity and it remains operational even at a height of 2000 meters (6560 feet). Its storage temperature is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit) The 150-A24NBD has net dimensions of 155 x 180 x 160 millimeters and it weighs approximately 4.5 kilograms (10 pounds).
