The 150-A360NBD smart motor controller has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the SMC Plus smart motor controller series. It is designed to control squirrel-cage induction motors or resistive loads in different systems and applications. The 150-A360NBD smart motor controller comes with an energy saver feature and its motor starting options include the soft start with a selectable kickstart option, the current limit start, and the full voltage start. It does not have a protective enclosure like some of the other SMC Plus controllers do. The 150-A360NBD smart motor controller can operate at up to 460 Volts AC input voltage at up to 60 Hertz.

The 150-A360NBD works with motors that produce 5 to 300 Horsepower and that have a current rating of 360 Amps. The module comes with a line voltage of 200 to 480 Volts AC and it comes as a microprocessor controlled module for the three-phase induction motors. The 150-A360NBD comes with three standard operation modes that include the soft start with selectable kickstart, current limit start, and the full voltage start. The 150-A360NBD features the open type enclosure rating and is available for the motors that are rated at 1 to 1000 Amps. The 150-A360NBD comes with an energy saving feature which is standard for the SMC controllers. The feature saves energy on the applications where the motor is lightly loaded or remains unloaded for a prolonged period of time. The energy saving feature is an inbuilt feature of the controller and it does not require any additional panel space or external wiring. The smart motor controllers feature a smart motor braking option that provides motor braking for the applications that require the motor to stop faster than other tasks do. The units feature a microprocessor-based braking system that applies a braking current to the standard squirrel cage induction motors. To brake, there is no need for additional contactor or power devices and this provides an automatic 0-speed shut-off that does not include a timer, a sensor, or a tachometer. The shipping dimensions for the 150-A360NBD are 22.06 inches in length by 10.75 inches in height by 11.58 inches in width. The 150-A360NBD weighs 65 pounds per unit during shipping.

The Allen-Bradley 150-A360NBD is a Smart Motor Control (SMC) that is part of the SMC Plus product series. This motor controller is a solid-state device that is capable of implementing soft start with selectable kickstart, current limit start and full voltage start, allowing the connected AC motor to be started and stopped with controlled parameters, especially controlled generation of inrush current, controlled motor change in rotation direction, as well as controlled stopping.

An equally important feature of the 150-A360NBD is the built-in energy saver capability. This feature can be used in applications where the motor operates at a light load or no load at all over an extended time period. This energy saver feature comes with a dedicated controller to implement and does not require an external module to implement this.

The 150-A360NBD is an open type controller that operates at an input supply voltage of 200-480 Volts AC VAC, 50/60 Hertz. It has an applicable motor output of 360 Amperes and output power range of 5-300 Horsepower. It has an open type enclosure and supports direct panel mounting via the provided mounting holes available to the device.

Optional features that can be specified to be included with this controller include soft stop, pump control, preset slow speed, SMB smart motor braking, accu stop and slow speed with braking. Only one option can be included to the motor at a time. Braking or stopping functions such as Smart Motor Braking, Soft Stop, Accu-Stop and Slow-Speed with braking are not intended to be used as emergency stop. A separate emergency stop mechanism must be implemented for unnatural events.
