The Allen Bradley 152H-WJB-59 functions as a designed soft starter, featuring a fusible disconnect. Capable of accommodating operational voltage ratings from 200 VAC to 480 VAC according to UL, and up to 500 VAC for IEC compliance, this unit operates efficiently while handling a substantial nominal current of 477 amperes. It is designed to manage a maximum motor power of 400 horsepower at 480 volts.

Enclosed within a NEMA 12 casing, the device is structured for protection against dust and other environmental contaminants suitable for industrial use. Users can select from a variety of control voltage options, including 100-240 VAC, 24 VAC, or 24 VDC, depending on application needs. In terms of functioning, the 152H-WJB-59 employs multiple starting methods such as kickstart, current limit, dual ramp, and full voltage start, each adaptable based on specific requirements. When stopping, it accommodates methods like SMB, Accu-Stop, and coast.

Communication capabilities include one serial port, facilitating connections to a human-machine interface (HMI) or additional communication modules. For enhanced control and monitoring, the module includes two programmable auxiliary contacts that can provide feedback for status and up-to-speed/fault indications.

This soft starter also ensures robust transient protection with a 220 J metal oxide varistor (MOV), and dv/dt protection is achieved via an RC snubber setup. The device withstands dielectric testing up to 2200 VAC per UL and 2500 VAC per IEC, ensuring reliability in harsh electrical environments. Operating effectively at standard frequency values of 50/60 Hz, it functions in ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of industrial conditions.
