The Allen-Bradley 40888-899-03 SMC Plus Preset Slow Speed Control Module is an optional replacement control module for the Allen-Bradley SMC Plus series smart motor controllers. This controller module is compatible with all the SMC Plus controller ratings. This controller module features a built-in microprocessor for outstanding and reliable motor control. It is designed for motors rated from 1/3 Horsepower to 1000 Horsepower, 1 to 1000 Amps, and 200 to 600 Volts AC. The 40888-899-03 Control Module is designed to accept a control power input range between 100 and 240 Volts AC, single-phase (-15% to +10%) at 50/60 Hertz. The 40888-899-03 Control Module offers the soft start with selectable kick start, current limit start, or the full voltage start as standard starting modes. It also features the optional preset slow speed operation mode which can be used in applications that require slow speed (e.g. moving material into position in manufacturing applications).

The preset slow speed option can be enabled via DIP switches, and this preset speed can be set to either 7% of the base speed (Low) or 15% of the base speed (High) in both forward and reverse directions without a reversing contactor. The DIP switch can also be used to set the direction of rotation, and the slow speed current limit is adjustable from 50 to 450% of Full Load Amps (FLA) rating. The 40888-899-03 Control Module offers protective and diagnostic functions that allow for smooth and reliable operation. The standard diagnostic and protective features include transient voltage protection, DV/DT protection, stall protection, line fault detection and protection, start fault protection, and over-temperature protection. The 40888-899-03 Control Module has an operating temperature range of 0 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius and an operating relative humidity range of 5 to 95% (non-condensing).
