The 100S-D140D22C contactor is a safety contactor that has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This specific contactor is manufactured as part of the 100S-D section of the Allen-Bradley IEC 100 Contactors series. This contactor has been designed to operate in hazardous locations and it is designed for motion applications that require non-stop feedback and the monitoring of the different switchgear that isolates energy from different circuits of equipment. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 100S-D140D22C safety contactor comes with a feature known as a mirror contacts setup that allows it to switch off the power supply to any equipment that is part of a machine safety system when necessary without affecting all the contacts. The functioning of the mirror contacts mechanism gives independence to each contact. If one of the contacts is closed for any reason, the rest of the contacts will keep operating while linked to their specified equipment and providing protection to the equipment.

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 100S-D140D22C safety contactor comes with 2 normally open contacts and 2 normally closed contacts. These contacts are all manufactured with gold plating and they are all bifurcated. The environment where the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 100S-D140D22C safety contactor is installed needs to have a climatic withstand rating that meets the IEC 60068-2-30 standards, and the operating temperature range must be between -25 to 60 degrees Celsius during operations. If the contactor is used at a temperature that exceeds 70 degrees Celsius, the contactor will operate with a current reduction of 15 percent of the values that is possible at a maximum temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. The overall electrical life of the contactor will depend on the power levels that are used as well as the kind of environment where the contactor is installed.
