The Allen-Bradley 104-C85D22 Reversing Contactor from the 104 IEC Safety Contactors series provides industrial application users with an easy-to-install and easy-to-troubleshoot electrical control device for starting motors in both the forward and backward directions as needed by the application. It can be supplied with a 460 Volts AC or 230 Volts AC voltage source and it is able to produce a 30 Horsepower or 60 Horsepower output rating depending on the voltage level that is applied. The Allen-Bradley 104-C85D22 Reversing Contactor uses a 120 Volts AC rated coil which greatly simplifies the remote control of the motor in the machine operation process. A set of 4 auxiliary contacts is provided (2 NC contacts and 2 NO contacts), which can be employed for external alarm signaling, status indication, or to start additional application processes that need to run simultaneously to the operation of the motor.
The Allen-Bradley 104-C85D22 Reversing Contactor can be mounted on a panel or on a DIN Rail, preferably inside a properly protected panelboard in order to diminish as much as possible the device’s exposure to water or other environmental contaminants that may cause malfunctions or short-circuits if they come into direct contact with electricity. The Allen-Bradley 104-C85D22 Reversing Contactor is composed of 2 independent contactors, which are mechanically interlocked and electrically interconnected in 1 of 2 possible configurations: wye and delta. In the wye or start configuration, the 3 phases are linked together in a single starting point, while in the delta configuration, the 3 phases are connected to form a triangular diagram. An external control signal should also be provided in order to start the forward rotation of the motor and to stop or change the direction of rotation.
