The Allen-Bradley 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor is an electrical motor starter which combines 2 independent contactors into a single unit that is capable of providing the host motor with the necessary voltage to rotate in one direction or the other. These 2 contactors are linked together by a mechanical interlock device and a shared mounting assembly but they need to be wired by the users according to the desired electrical specifications for an application. The contactor's Horsepower rating is 20 Horsepower.

The Allen-Bradley 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor is an electromagnetic piece of machinery designed to automate the start of a motor and to let it rotate in either the forward or reverse directions by providing a set of 2 independent contactors that are wired in parallel to the load. Line terminals L1 and L3 are normally interchanged between 2 contactors in order to supply energy to the motor so that  it can rotate in either direction.  The Allen-Bradley 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor has a maximum current rating of 85 Amps, a power supply voltage rating of 460 Volts AC, and a Horsepower rating of 20 Horsepower. It uses a 24 Volts DC coil to activate its contactors, which allows a safe operation in most modern electrical control applications, such as motion control in the manufacturing industry, and elevator control in residential or commercial applications.

The Allen-Bradley 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor comes from the factory with 3 poles by the contactor in order to accommodate the 3-phase voltage connection leads. An extra set of 2 auxiliary contacts is also included by default, and one of them is normally closed and the other is normally open. The Allen-Bradley 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor can be mounted inside an electrical cabinet or enclosure by using the built-in DIN-rail attachment, or directly on the panel. Basic maintenance operations for this device include cleaning the contractor's connection terminal, applying the torque specified by the manufacturer on the terminal screws, and making sure the enclosure provides enough protection for the device. Properly trained electrical technicians should be tasked with performing the maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair of motion control systems and components like the 104-C85J22 Reversing Contactor.
