The 1100-BOB93 contactor is an industrial vacuum contactor that has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the Bulletin 1100 product line of contactors. This device has a maximum operational voltage rating of 1500 Volts, a maximum continuous current rating of 350 Amps, and a 3-phase coil voltage ranging from 460 to 1500 Volts. The 1100 series vacuum contactors can also operate with a maximum voltage of 3300 Volts in certain applications, but this voltage rating requires an insulation barrier to be installed for contactor protection and a current range of 180 to 450 Amps. The new insulation barrier replaces the standard safety shield that the contactors come with. This replacement insulating barrier offers load terminal isolation as well as contactor protection with the higher voltage. Other notable specifications of the Allen-Bradley 1100-BOB93 Vacuum Contactor include motor voltage and horsepower ratings of 1200 Horsepower at 2400 Volts, 1500 Horsepower at 3000 Volts, and 1500 Horsepower at 3300 Volts, and the 3300 Volts rated insulating barrier is required to help obtain these ratings safely and consistently.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1100-BOB93 Vacuum Contactor and the entire Bulletin 1100 series of contactors support different accessories such as auxiliary contacts which generally include contactors with standard 2 Normally Open (NO) auxiliary contacts and 2 Normally Closed (NC) auxiliary contacts. There are also additional auxiliary contacts that can be added in the field including 2 additional NO contacts and 2 NC contacts. Generally, the Bulletin 1100 contactors, including the 1100-BOB93 Vacuum Contactor are ideal for use in pumping, mining, chemical processing and other heavy-duty industrial applications that use voltages above 600 Volts. The Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1100 contactors like the 1100-BOB93 Vacuum Contactor use vacuum bottles for enclosing the power switching contacts inside the contactors and this is why they are known as vacuum contactors.
