The 1379-NC360 contactor is a DC contactor that is intended for use in industrial systems that operate on a high level. This 1379 contactor is made by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation and it is an electromagnetically held unit. The main purpose of such a contactor is to switch the armature current from the DC drive module to the DC motor. If a power failure occurs or if a stop is initiated, the 1379-NC360 contactor can be used for disconnecting the motor armature from the DC drive module. The contactor includes power connections that are placed at the top of the unit and top-wiring construction which is typical for this kind of component.

The 1379-NC360 contactor has reliable double break silver cadmium oxide contacts consisting of wedge-shaped movable contacts and stationary contacts with a fold-back design. In addition to that, the contactor has coils that protect it from mechanical damage and environments that could be harmful and it has a magnet with a permanent air gap. The 1379-NC360 contactor has a voltage of 500 Volts at the maximum DC motor load and contact make current of 900 Amps at a 550 Volts DC motor load. The auxiliary contact rating includes a voltage of 115 Volts AC and a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz while the continuous current is 10 Amps (AC maximum). In addition to that, the contact break current of the auxiliary contact is 6 Amps (AC maximum). The coil ratings of the 1379-NC360 contactor include a maximum pickup of 75% of the nominal voltage and a maximum dropout of 55% of the nominal voltage. The breakdown voltage of the unit is 2,100 Volts RMS for all the electrical elements to ground.
