The Allen-Bradley 1388B-AV40 is a Servo Controller module from the Bulleting 1388B. It is specifically a DC servo controller that is compatible for use with Allen-Bradley’s 1388 Anti-Backlash system. This device is a Series B controller with an open frame and provided with an internal heatsink. The nominal output voltage under a load of this controller is 150VDC, continuous current rating of 40 Amperes, a peak output current of 100 Amperes, and rated output power of 3.0 kW with minimum load inductance of 0.4 milliHenry. the 1388-AV40 operates when connected to a 120 VAC, 3-Phase supply voltage with a frequency of 50/60 Hz along with an input current of 20 Amperes. It has a VCT of 35.5 VAC, 1-phase and frequency of 50/60 Hz, and a current of 1.6 Amperes. This controller has a maximum short circuit current of 1600 Amperes(rms). When connecting power wires to terminals 1-6 of this servo controller, use 8-18 AWG copper wires with 75 Degree Celsius insulation rating. Apply 32 lb-in tightening Torque to the terminals to secure connection. Similarly, power wiring connections for terminals 7-12 require the use of 10-20 coppers wires with the same insulation rating however, the appropriate tightening Torque is 18 lb-in. For control wiring, use terminals TB1 and TB2 mounted on the control Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the controller. Apply tightening torque amounting to 5 lb-in using a control wire size of 12-22 AWG with 75 Degree Celsius insulation rating. This servo controller is provided with LED status indicators mounted on the module’s front panel. These LED indicators include Motor overload, undervoltage, overvoltage, current foldback, overtemperature, transistor overcurrent, and module enabled.

The servo controller with product code 1388B-AV40 is Series B servo controller and it is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The 1388B-AV40 controller features intuitive operation and it allows simple on-site adjustments and simple setup of the functional parameters. In addition to that, the interrupt rating of the circuit breaker is 5000 Amps. In regard to other specifications of the controller, it includes a form factor of 1.03 or less, a peak current limit adjustment of 10 to 250% of the rated current, and of 85% drive efficiency.
