The Allen-Bradley 1409-BOBD module is used for arcing ground fault relay applications with high current inhibit features. The module is available through the 1409 product series introduced by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The components from thisĀ product series are made for the protection of equipment in an industrial working environment. The series offers multiple module variants with Class I or Class II designs. Since the 1409-BOBD ground fault relay module is a Class II device, it should be mentioned that thisĀ device isĀ mostly used with motor starters/contactors in order to interrupt low-level ground faults. The high current limiting functionality prevents the controller from opening when the controller interrupting capacity is exceeded by the fault current.
The 1409-BOBD arcing ground fault relay module has a test circuit that ensures proper operation and it features a 50 milliseconds time delay which minimizes nuisance tripping. Also, this response time allows time for high current inhibiting. The 1409-BOBD relay is built for industrial conditions and its operating temperature should be between 0 and 65 degrees Celsius (32 and 149 degrees Fahrenheit). The unit has a maximum input voltage of 460 Volts AC and a supply voltage of 120 Volts AC. The operating frequency is 60 Hertz while the power input is 3 Volt-Amps. The 1409-BOBD moduleĀ has a full load current of 14 Amps and an output power rating of 10 Horsepower. Also, the minimum high current limitĀ is 63 Amps while the maximum high current limitĀ is 79 Amps. It should be mentioned that the 1409-BOBDĀ ground fault relay module comes with a NEMA starter of size 1.
