The 1409-DOBD module is a Bulletin 1409 arcing ground fault relay module that is designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The module features a Class II design and it comes with high current inhibit feature. The ground fault relay module is a protective device that is used mostly with motor starters or contactors with the goal of interrupting low-level ground faults. The high-current limit feature provides protection against the opening of the controller in cases when the fault current exceeds the controller interrupting capacity. The 1409-DOBD relay module is combined with an arcing ground fault sensor to form a complete arcing ground fault system. The arcing ground fault relay module has a full functionality for various adjustments, detection, and output circuitry. The relay module has a toggle switch that is used for the operation of the ground fault detection system.
The 1409-DOBD arcing ground fault relay module has a power rating of 50 Horsepower maximum and a maximum voltage rating of 460 Volts AC. The module has a supply voltage of 120 Volts AC and an operating frequency of 60 Hertz. In addition to that, the unit has a power input rating of 3 Volt-Amps and a high current limit of 293 to 370 Amps. The 1409-DOBD ground fault relay module is intended for a NEMA starter size of 3 and it operates within a temperature range of 0 to 65 degrees (32 to 149 degrees Fahrenheit). The module features an output contact rating of 30 Amps (make) and 3 Amps (break) along with a continuous carrying current of 5 Amps at 120 Volts. The typical response time of the 1409-DOBD relay modules and other relay modules from the series is 50 milliseconds (nominal). The response time does not include the drop-out time of the controller.
