The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1409-GOBD arcing ground fault relay module interrupts low-level ground faults and it is primarily used with motor starters or contactors. The unit is part of the Bulletin 1409 product line and it comes with a high-current limit feature that prevents the controller from opening in cases where the fault current exceeds the interrupting capacity of the controller. The 1409 product series offers module variants in output power ratings from 7.5 to 400 Horsepower and the following maximum voltages: 200 to 230, 460, and 575 Volts AC. The 1409-GOBD relay module features a Class II design and it contains all the circuitry needed for current detection, adjustment, and output.
The 1409-GOBD ground fault relay module forms a complete ground fault detection system with an arcing ground fault sensor which is available as a separate product. This module is made in compliance with the CSA C22.2 (No. 144) and UL 1053 standards. In regard to the specifications for the ambient operating conditions, the relay module should have an operating temperature from 0 to 65 degrees Celsius (32 to 149 degrees Fahrenheit). The 1409-GOBD ground fault relay module is designed for a size 6 NEMA starter and it has a maximum power output of 400 Horsepower. The supply voltage is 120 Volts AC and the maximum voltage is 460 Volts AC. The 1409-GOBD module has a power input of 3 Volt-Amps and a full load current of 465 Amps. In addition to that, the unit has a high current limit of 2147 to 2718 Amps (minimum to maximum). The typical response time without controller drop-out time is 50 milliseconds while the output contact rating is 30 Amps (make) and 3 Amps (break).
