The 140-CMN-6300 is a Motor Protection Circuit Breaker that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This electrical device is primarily designed for use in Disconnect for Motor Branch protection acting as disconnect switch; Branch-Circuit and Short-Circuit Protection or Magnetic Protection; Equipment Overload Protection also referred to as Thermal Protection or for manual switching and isolation of circuits. Circuit breakers such as the 140-CMN-6300 are ideally used to provide separation of circuits and modularity. This way, circuits may continue to operate even with a tripped breaker. Also, maintenance and servicing procedures can be easily carried out as circuit isolation such as Lock Out, Tag-out (LOTO) scheme can be implemented with ease. The 140-CMN-6300 circuit breaker comes with a manually activated lever that is rotated counterclockwise to disengage connection and rotated clockwise to connect the circuit to the source. It has an adjustable trip setting ranging from 40 - 63 Amperes, modified using a Precision screwdriver. The breaker’s magnetic release current is 890 Amperes, ultimate short circuit breaking capacity of 50 Amperes at 230 / 240 VAC; 20 Amperes at 400 / 415 VAC; 10 Amperes at 500 VAC, and 4 Amperes at 690 VAC. Additionally, the breaker’s Switching of Standard Three-Phase Motors is rated at 13/20 for 230 / 240 VAC; 25 / 32 for 400 / 415 VAC; 30 / 40 for 500 VAC, and 37 / 55 for 690 VAC. The appropriate wire size for use with the circuit breaker is #8-14 AWG Copper wire with a max insulation rating of 75 Degree Celsius. Tighten connections at Torque values of 6-10 Nm or 55-90 lb-in.
The Allen-Bradley 140-CMN-6300 Circuit Breaker is specifically designed for motor protection with a rated operational current of 63 Amps. It can be used as a manual disconnect switch for motor branch circuits, as a magnetically-activated short-circuit protection device, or as a thermally activated overload switch. It is provided with an external rotary operator and it features a screw-type potentiometer for the adjustment of the thermal release trip current and to properly set the overload trigger of the Allen-Bradley 140-CMN-6300 Motor Protection Circuit Breaker. The instantaneous magnetic trip mechanism of the device cannot be adjusted by the users and it is factory set to be 13 or 14 times the maximum value of setting range (approximately 890 Amps) The Allen-Bradley 140-CMN-6300 Motor Protection Circuit Breaker has been extensively tried and tested in every possible industrial application, and it always provides outstanding results in performance, durability, and safety. It has an estimated lifespan of 30,000 operations for mechanical parts and one of 5000 operations for the electrical elements, with a switching frequency of a maximum of 20 times per hour. Some of the accessories that can be attached to the Allen-Bradley 140-CMN-6300 Motor Protection Circuit Breaker are the Auxiliary Contacts, Undervoltage Trip, Trip Contact Blocks, and the Shunt Trip. This circuit breaker is designed for optimal operation in three-phase circuits, but it can also be used for single-phase circuits, by connecting the three poles in series. The 140-CMN Motor Protection Circuit Breakers are UL listed and CSA certified as manual motor controllers. In NEC/CEC Group Installations, these devices must be applied according to the requirements of upstream Branch-Circuit and Short-Circuit Protective Devices.
Typical applications include Disconnect for Motor Branch Circuit, Branch-Circuit, Short-Circuit Protection (Magnetic Protection), Overload Protection (Thermal Protection) and Switching (Manual).
The 140-CMN-6300’s mounting are Panel or DIN rail mounting.
The 140-CMN-6300’s trip range is 40 - 63 Amperes.

The 140-CMN-6300 is a Motor Protection Circuit Breaker from Allen-Bradley. These circuit breakers have a maximum trip value of 63 Amperes and a minimum of 40 Amperes which can be done via the front panel dial. This breaker has a lower trip setting compared to the 140-CMN-9000 which has a 90 Ampere rating. Though the 140-CMN-9000 has a higher trip value, the 140-CMN-6300 performance remains the same as both circuit breakers are utilizing the same technology and principle of operation.
