The Allen-Bradley 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Motor Protection Circuit Breaker is a motor protection circuit breaker that is designed to provide short-circuit protection for individual motor loads in control panel applications. The 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Circuit Breaker belongs to the G Frame motor circuit protector series, and like every Bulletin 140MG motor circuit breakers, it can be used as a disconnect device for the motor branch circuits and the branch circuit (itself), as a short-circuit protection device, and as a switching device for the main circuit. The 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Circuit Breaker is designed to provide only short-circuit protection (UL/CSA recognized), and if motor overload protection is required, an overload protection device (preferably an MCCB) must be ordered separately.

The 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Circuit Breaker belongs to the high break circuit breaker family with a maximum interrupting rating of 100 Kilo-Amps, and a breaker current rating of 30 Amps. It is suitable for a circuit with an operating voltage range of 460 to 600 Volts AC, and it has a nominal Horsepower rating of 5.0 Horsepower at 230 Volts AC and 10.0 Horsepower at 460 Volts AC. The 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Circuit Breaker is fitted with an adjustable magnetic trip unit (magnetic only), and this protection unit has adjustable trip values between 90 and 330 Amps. This trip unit utilizes a CAM control mechanism with an adjustable setting from A through I, and it provides instantaneous trip action via an electromagnet in series with a line load. The 140MG-G8P-C30-SA Circuit Breaker comes with a factory-installed shunt trip option, with a 220 to 240 Volts AC or 220 to 250 Volts DC voltage rating that offers remote tripping of the circuit breaker by applying a control voltage to the shunt trip coil.
