The Allen-Bradley 1799-D16U16VL module is a 32-point I/O module that features 16 sink/source input points along with 16 sink output points. It is a digital board manufactured as part of the 1799 Embedded I/O product line. The I/O digital board has 24 Volts DC of input voltage, and the Allen-Bradley 1799-D16U16VL I/O board is usable with programmable controllers as well as SLCs and PLCs by using DeviceNet scanners. All these I/O module values are accessible through the use of the data tables of the PLCs or SLCs. In addition, they feature the DeviceLogix technology which is part of the embedded I/O module series with a functionality that allows for the control of the outputs and manages the status of local information from the module's inner side.

There are Zone Control Input/Output versions of the Allen-Bradley 1799 Embedded I/O cards with a Zone Interlocking Parameter (ZIP) available that allow for the cards to communicate directly with each other. Additionally, there are also Zone Control input versions of 1799 Embedded I/O cards available such as the Allen-Bradley 1799-ZCIOB, 1799-D10U10VZC, 1799-D10U10BZC, and 1799-ZCIOV cards. Other features and advantages of the Allen-Bradley 1799-D16U16VL I/O board are the removable terminal block connectors which help to support quick repair and installation processes.
