The Allen-Bradley 194R-NN400P3 disconnect switch is the biggest member of the Bulletin 194R-NN product family, with a current rating of 400 Amps and operating voltage ratings of 600 Volts AC and 250 Volts DC. Like every other member of its product family, the 194R-NN400P3 disconnect switch is built for panel mounting and it is provided with an operating shaft (also known as a rod) that connects the the operating handle with the power-carrying device. When the operating handle is rotated, the disconnect switch is engaged or disengaged from the utility power source, thus providing (or cutting off) electrical feeding to the appliances or systems that are connected downstream. The main purpose of installing one of these disconnect switches in a given application is to provide a means for the manual disconnection of power for operational or safety purposes.
For the Allen-Bradley 194R-NN400P3 disconnect switch to be able to handle such a high level of current, it has been made with sturdy materials that need a bigger housing than other similar products. The minimum enclosure size is 30 inches in height, 17 inches in width, and 10 inches in depth. The approximate weight is 33 pounds. Unlike the other members of its product family, the 194R-NN400P3 disconnect switch cannot be operated in single-phase circuits. Its maximum Horsepower rating varies according to the application’s voltage rating, and it can be 100 Horsepower for 200 Volts AC, 250 Horsepower for 125 Volts AC, 250 Horsepower for 460 Volts AC, 300 Horsepower for 575 Volts AC, and 50 Horsepower for 250 Volts DC connections. The Allen-Bradley 194R-NN400P3 disconnect switch is not provided with fuse protection, so it is mandatory to install a short-circuit protection device such as a circuit breaker to guarantee that type of protection.
