The Allen-Bradley 2090-SR120-09 passive shunt resistor module is an external servo drive shunt resistor module designed to provide an external dissipative capability for the Ultra 3000 servo drives when large inertial loads are present. This shunt resistor module offers additional dissipative means when the system loads require power dissipation levels that exceed the drive’s internal shunt capability and ensuring that the drive does not experience a fault as a result of excessive Bus voltage. A properly sized 2090-SR120-09 shunt resistor module remains passive unless activated by the drive, and when it is activated, it regulates excess Bus voltage by directing the current through a resistor, which dissipates the excess current as heat.
The 2090-SR120-09 module is compatible with the 400 Volts AC voltage rated Ultra 3000 drives (including the 2098-xxx-HV030 and 2098-xxx-HV050 drives), and it has a rated resistance range of 120 to 148 Ohms. It also has a continuous power rating of 900 Watts, with a peak value of 5.3 kilowatts at 460 Volts AC input, and it has a peak current rating of 6.7 Amps at 460 Volts AC. The 2090-SR120-09 module has a 2.5 Amps rated fast-acting, highspeed Bussman fuse (the FWP-2.5A14F) that provides line protection and that is field-replaceable. The 2090-SR120-09 module can be installed externally within an IP 54, IP 64, or NEMA Type 4 rated enclosure which protects it against dust and splashing by using factory-supplied 0.25 inches (M6) bolts. It is also wired to the drive by using a high-temperature 75 degrees Celsius, 600 Volts AC rated shielded 8 AWG copper wire. The 2090-SR120-09 module weighs approximately 3.63 kilograms (8 pounds), and it can be used within a 0 to 50 degrees Celsius temperature range without de-rating.
