The Allen-Bradley 500-BJD930 contactor is a NEMA Size 1 500 series AC contactor. It is part of the Allen-Bradley Bulletin 500 product range. The 500-BJD930 contactor is a 3-phase contactor rated for up to 27 Amps of current. The maximum Horsepower rating in single-phase operation at 115 Volts AC is 2 Horsepower. The enclosure of the contactor has a NEMA Type 3R/4/12 rating and it is rainproof and dustproof. The dimensions of the contactor enclosure are 15 x 10 x 6 inches. The voltage rating of the contactor is 115 to 120 Volts AC. Three power poles are available on the contactor along with one auxiliary contact. The 500-BJD930 contactor is wired at the top, which allows for convenient wiring and it can be used for both single-phase and 3-phase industrial applications.
The wire size recommended for use with the 500-BJD930 contactor is AWG 14 to AWG 8. The recommended tightening torque is 20 pounds on an inch for the wire-in lug and 23 pounds on an inch for the overload relay to the contactor. Before installing the contactor or replacing a faulty one, the power to the system must be disconnected to avoid injury to the users. When the contacts have become severely worn, they must be replaced. Replacing contacts will prevent uneven contact closings. The contact spring flexibility must also be checked and the springs should also be replaced if necessary. The 500-BJD930 contactor is designed for vertical mounting. The operating temperature range for the contactor is from -13 to 149 degrees Fahrenheit. The contactor can be installed at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet before it starts to derate. All of the metal parts on the 500-BJD930 contactor are treated for corrosion resistance.
