The Allen-Bradley 500L-CAA93 contactor is a Bulletin 500L AC lighting contactor. The 500L-CAA93 contactor is a 3-pole device available in a NEMA Type 1 general purpose enclosure. The control coil on the contactor has a voltage rating for 230 to 240 Volts AC at 60 Hertz. The maximum service voltage rating of the contactor is 600 Volts at 60 Hertz. The current rating of the contactor for general purpose use, resistive heating, ballast fluorescent lighting, and discharge lighting is 60 Amps. With tungsten lamp loads that have 480 Volts AC line and 278 Volts AC load voltages, the current rating for the 500L-CAA93 contactor is 60 Amps. Bulletin 500L contactors, including the 500L-CAA93 contactor, are top-wired devices. Bulletin 500L contactors are available in 2, 3, and 4-pole versions.

Bulletin 500L contactors can be used for applications involving non-motor loads, heating, and lighting functions. Bulletin 500L contactors are available in NEMA Type 1, 3R/12, and 4/4X (stainless steel) enclosures. Bulletin 500L contactors are electrically held contactors which are not suitable for applications involving sign flashers. They can be used for non-motor loads to switch the current to mercury arc lamps, capacitors, incandescent filament, and fluorescent lamps. If a hold-in contact for a 3-wire push button is required, it can be specially ordered, but it is not a standard feature. Furthermore, a normally-open auxiliary contact can be added in the field and it can be used as a hold-in contact. Bulletin 500L contactors, including the 500L-CAA93 contactor, are certified by the CSA, UL, and CE standards. The 500L-CAA93 contactor also complies with the UL 508, IEEE 45, ABS, CSA, and EN/IEC standards.
