The Allen-Bradley 500L-CAD94 contactor is a 4-pole AC contactor. It is designed for non-motor loads such as heating and lighting loads. The 500L-CAD94 contactor can be used for general-purpose, resistive heating, ballast lighting, and discharge lighting applications. The current rating for the 500L-CAD94 contactor is 60 Amps for tungsten lamp loads and for other applications. Allen-Bradley does not recommend use of this contactor for applications involving sign flashers. The enclosure of the 500L-CAD94 contactor is a NEMA Type 1 enclosure which is suited to general-purpose applications. The coil on the control circuit of the contactor has a 115 to 120 Volts AC voltage rating at 60 Hertz. The maximum service voltage with which the contactor can be safely used is 600 Volts AC (60 Hertz).

Pollution on the pole surfaces of the 500L-CAD94 contactor can create a humming sound when the contactor is in the closed position. A soft and dry piece of cloth should be used when cleaning the contactor and to remove all pollutants. The humming sound can also be produced if the pole surfaces are deformed or due to corrosion caused by unfavorable environmental conditions. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure that condensation is not formed on the 500L-CAD94 contactor. The contactor’s metal parts should be protected from gases and corrosive vapors which could affect the reliable operation of the 500L-CAD94 contactor. Periodic inspection of the contactor is recommended to ensure that any issues such as contact wear can be rectified before the operation of the contactor is seriously affected. Only spare parts and accessories which are approved by Allen-Bradley should be used for the contactor.
