The Allen-Bradley 592-EC5AC module is an EC5-type overload relay module from the 592 series. The operating current range for the relay is 1 to 5 Amps and the contactor size on the relay is 0 to 2. The 592-EC5AC module is factory-programmed for 3-phase operation and it can be easily reconfigured for 1-phase operation. In the unpowered state, the trip relay contact on the 592-EC5AC module is open. This contact closes 2 to 35 seconds after the power is applied to the device, provided that there is no trip condition. Besides the trip relay, the 592-EC5AC module also supports 6 inputs and 2 outputs. The status of the relay and the inputs and outputs can be monitored over the DeviceNet network. The status of the DeviceNet network can be ascertained by the LED status indicator which is provided for this purpose.
The Allen-Bradley 592-EC5AC overload relay module also includes a trip and warning indicator which flashes a sequence of red and amber lights during warning conditions. This same LED flashes a sequence of red lights for trip conditions. The “OUT A” and “OUT B” indicators illuminate if the output contacts are closed. The “IN 1” to “IN 4” LED indicators illuminate when the user-connected device contact is closed. A test/reset button on the front panel of the 592-EC5AC module can be pressed for 2 seconds to activate the test function. The same button can be used to reset the device if it is in a tripped condition or if the trip condition is not present. The operation and maintenance of the overload relay should be carried out by experienced technicians only.
