The 40189-802-01 enclosure is an enclosure that has been designed and manufactured as one of the spare parts for the 690U contactor switches manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This enclosure is intended to provide protection to the switch against dirt, dust, and corrosion, and to prevent the contactor switch from having direct contact with the external environment. It protects the switch from any type of damage that can diminish its output or cause malfunctioning. The Allen-Bradley 40189-802-01 enclosure is used with the Series G-J, Series K, Series F-H, and Series J 609 switches. This enclosure model also includes the base and cover assemblies and it is used directly with the 609U switches such as the 609U-AC, 609U-BC, 609U-ACX, 609U-BCX, and 609U-CXX switches that are sizes 0, 1, and 1P.

The Allen-Bradley 40189-802-01 enclosure is not completely able to provide protection against large amounts of liquids but it is corrosion-resistant. The NEMA protection level that it provides is Type 4 or 4X. This enclosure can be paired with an operating mechanism that can be used on the cover of the enclosure. This mechanism enables the users to turn the switch on and off without needing to remove the enclosure. The Allen-Bradley 40189-802-01 enclosure can also be paired with a grounding adapter in its base and with a conduit hub in the base. All these spare parts contribute to the protection of the switch since they enable users to operate the switch and use it as they normally would but with the extra protection of an enclosure that does not need to be removed to operate the switch.
