The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 700DC-R040Z48 relay is a DC-operated unit with an open enclosure from the 700DC Relays series. The unit has 4 normally closed contacts and it is made for mounting on a DIN rail. The DC coil voltage rating of the relay is 48 Volts DC and the contact rating is 20 Amps. It is suggested that relays like the 700DC-R040Z48 relay be used with additional safety relays and safety-monitoring relays if the users want to create a much safer environment for their safety circuitry and their relays. The 700DC-R040Z48 relay is designed for heavy-duty operation and to be installed on a specified DIN rail without using an additional adapter device or special tools. The series 700P relays are very reliable and have a long operating life.

The 700DC-R040Z48 relay is built in a way which allows for easy installation and connection. The wires can be connected easily due to the protective covers which are attached. Additionally, the 700DC-R040Z48 relay has a finger-safe top cover which can activate the mechanical override on standard relays. The activation of the mechanical override is done through the special hole located on the cover. Also, the 700DC-R040Z48 relay has a sealed switch which is not available on most similar relays from other manufacturers. The 700DC Relays series offers up to 12 normally open contacts and up to 8 normally closed contacts. Besides the open enclosure, the series provides enclosures with the following ratings: NEMA Type 1, NEMA Type 4/4X, and NEMA Type 7/9. The series provides many types of standard relays and several models of safety relays and the manufacturer also offers a series of AC-operated relays.
