The Allen-Bradley 802T-DT Electromechanical Limit Switch is a type of discrete actuator switch that opens or closes a control circuit in order to command the system controller to perform a specific task in the control algorithm in the system. This 802T Limit Switch is normally connected to the discrete input signal of a programmable logic controller, shifting the status of the circuit when that roller type lever is pressed due to contact with a physical object or with a machinery part. The Allen-Bradley 802T-DT Electromechanical Limit Switch is able to manipulate the status of up to 4 independent circuits, each of which are fully customizable by the final user. It has a variety of mounting options, such as rear mounting using size 10 screws and front mounting using size 10 screws, and it can be mounted in vertical and horizontal positions in both places.

With an IP 67 environmental protection rating, which is one of the highest available, this electromechanical switch is classified as an oiltight device, but in order to guarantee long-term, trouble free operation, the manufacturer strongly recommends installing where it will be kept away from direct contact with water. The Allen-Bradley 802T-DT Electromechanical Limit Switch has been rated to work with a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC, and an inrush current rate of 10 Amps. For this limit switch model, the most commonly used lever type of actuator has been replaced by a roller head that allows the switch to adapt to the flow of objects without adding a point of resistance, which makes this switch the ideal solution for applications like counting units or products on a conveyor belt.
