This pressure probing is constantly feeding the pressure switch with instant, real-time pressure updates, and these updates can be used as the trigger signal to activate a set of 2 electrical SPDT (Single Pole, Double Throw) electrical contacts. Industrial control engineers are then enabled to use a specific pressure value as the application process setpoint and by adding additional devices to the control algorithm, such as an electrical relay to power electric motors or other types of actuators, they are able to maintain the pressure in the system within the range they desire.

The T-style form factor of the switch and its sturdy and durable metallic casing, allow for direct mounting on pipes that are carrying different pressure mediums such as water, oil, and natural gas.
