The 842E-MIP2BA encoder is an Ethernet/IP encoder. This Ethernet/IP encoder has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley as part of the 842 Encoders series. The 842E-MIP2BA encoder is meant to be mounted on a host device as part of a larger system, and this means that it does not have many built in safety features because it is meant to share the safety features of the host device. It is also meant to operate with just the Ethernet/IP network and no other network type. The 842E-MIP2BA Ethernet/IP encoder functions by the Ethernet/IP industrial network to provide data to the programmable controller that it is connected to. It can be used as part of a DLR or device level ring topology, or as part of a star or linear topology.
The Allen-Bradley 842E-MIP2BA Ethernet/IP encoder from the 842 Encoders series can monitor the exact position of a rotating shaft in a motor to measure information about it such as the speed, RPM, distance, and the position of the rotating shaft. It supports 18 bits of single turn resolution. Its code disk is made of nickel so that it can withstand harsh conditions in its operating environment. Because it is a multi turn type of encoder, the 842E-MIP2BA Ethernet/IP encoder can be used to monitor the absolute position of a rotating motor shaft within the space of multiple shaft rotations. This encoder is also designed to be compact with a hollow shaft and with a high level of resistance to vibration during operation.
