The Allen-Bradley 193-EC5BB voltage monitor relay is a voltage monitor device from the bulletin 193-EC5 voltage monitor product line that is designed to provide voltage overload protection to connected 3-phase industrial motors. Unlike the EC3 Plus relays, the 193-EC5BB relay features real-time voltage monitoring and protection in addition to the enhanced current-based motor protection. With this feature, the operators can protect against overvoltage, under-voltage, phase failure, voltage unbalance, frequency, and other voltage-related faults. The 193-EC5BB relay also offers a power protection feature that monitors and protects against excess reactive power (kVAR), apparent power (kVA), real power (kW), and power factors in specific applications. Other special features include 2-speed protection, a built-in thermal memory circuit, a thermal warning capability, jam detection, and stall protection.
This device has an insulation voltage rating of 600 Volts AC (UL) and a maximum impulse withstand rating of up to 6,000 Volts AC. The 193-EC5BB relay is designed to accommodate both single-phase and 3-phase application and operators can easily select between single-phase or 3-phase operations via a programming parameter. The 193-EC5BB relay offers 2-speed protection functions by providing 2 FLA settings to optimize thermal utilization and improved the motor protection. The 193-EC5BB relay has the DeviceNet communication capability that supports "Slave Only" communication, and it also allows for editing, deleting, or downloading the device configuration and DeviceLogix programs to the device. The 193-EC5BB relay supports DeviceLogix control, and by using the RSNetWorx configuration tool (Ver. 3.0 or later), the operators can configure function block programs that can be saved directly to the relay device.
