The Allen-Bradley 409-B40ND Motor Starter is a heavy-duty sturdy electromechanical motor starter that is designed for use in many different industrial systems and in demanding applications with an excellent level of throughput and low maintenance costs. The Allen-Bradley 409-B40ND Motor Starter is rated at 115 to 120 Volts of coil voltage at a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz and it is intended to receive a 110 Volts AC rated control signal in order to provide an industrial motor with the necessary power to start up. It can handle a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC, and it is only used for forward operation because it is a non-reversing starter. If a given user application requires reversing the operation of the motor, it will be necessary to install an additional starter to perform this action.
The Allen-Bradley 409-B40ND Motor Starter is such a sturdy piece of equipment that it will only require minimal maintenance to operate without trouble for long periods of time. Some of the maintenance operations that are required include periodic cleaning, tightening of the wiring connection terminals according to the recommended torque specifications, running thermal imaging procedures to determine the presence of hotspots, and periodic changeover of the footings. The Allen-Bradley 409-B40ND Motor Starter is usually installed in a motor control center, but it also can be installed in a protective enclosure located near the motor that will be controlled. The operating temperature for the motor starter should be between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit), and the users must control the starter’s exposure to high humidity and water, and avoid touching the electrical components of the starter.
