The Allen-Bradley MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo motor comes from the Allen-Bradley MP-Series of servo motors that operate with low levels of inertia. It can rotate at a maximum rated speed of 5000 rpm. The MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo comes with several standard features that qualify it for use with most standard industrial applications. This servo motor should never be exposed to water or other liquids. Because liquids can drip down vertical cables and condense on or flow into the servo, always connect cables to the MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo motor with drip loops that will lead any dripping liquids away from the servo motor and its sensitive parts. The servo motor can also be protected from liquids with shields on the motor’s housing, its shaft seals, and all of its connections and junctions. The shaft seals can also wear out with frequent use and they should be inspected regularly and replaced when necessary. The Allen-Bradley MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo motor can be slowed down with a spring-set holding break with a brake coil that triggers the brake and slows down the motor when voltage is applied to it. To disengage the brake, the users will need a separate power source such as a servo motor controller. Note that this holding brake should not be used to bring the MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo motor to a complete stop except in the case of an emergency or a power failure because such use causes a rotational backlash that can damage the holding break or the servo motor itself. The MPL-A420P-HJ22AA servo motor can also be damaged by electrical noise, so users should install line filters on all of the AC power cables or isolate all of the power transformers.
