The MPL-A430H-SJ72AA is a Kinetix Servo motor. It is a Brushless synchronous AC motor that belongs to the MPL low inertia motors. It is specifically designed for use in Packaging, Converting, Material handling, Electronic assembly and Automotive applications and of similar type. It is an essential device as it is the Final Control Element (FCE) of the motion control system. To implement the required motion control, it needs to be driven by a Servo motor drive. As this motor is part of the Kinetix platform, it is made in compatibility with a number of Kinetix Servo drives such as Kinetix 5500, Kinetix 5700, Kinetix 6200/6500, Kinetix 6000, Kinetix 300/350, Kinetix 2000 and Kinetix 7000. This Kinetix drive is a 200 V class drive, powered by an input voltage of 230 VAC, 3-phase and delivers power output of 1.8 kW with continuous stall current of 12. 2 A and peak stall current of 45 A. Specific Torque outputs are 6.21 Nm (55 lb-in) continuous stall Torque and 198 Nm (175 lb-in) peak stall Torque. It has rated speed of 3500 RPM and installed with a high-resolution, 1024 sin/cos absolute encoder. The built-in encoder supports Hiperface protocol. This protocol is a digital communication between the drive and the motor, enabling faster exchange of the motor’s position. Coupled with the high-resolution nature of the encoder, position can be accurately and precisely controlled, allowing this motor to be used in applications that require greater control. Additionally, the MPL-A430H-SJ72AA supports smart motor technology where an on-board memory keeps the identity of the motor, allowing the motor to be discover and identified over the network. This contributes to faster commissioning, maintenance of troubleshooting of the motor.

The Allen-Bradley MPL-A430H-SJ72AA is a compact and brushless servo motor in the MP-series of low-inertia (Bulletin MPL) motors. It is available with single turn high-resolution encoder. The MPL-A430H-SJ72AA servo motor can be damaged or short-circuit if fluids build up around or seep into its cable connections. Users can protect the motor and prolong its life by connecting cables to it in a drip loop formation that diverts fluids away from the motor and by using shields where possible. If the MPL-A430H-SJ72AA’s power fails, its holding brakes can be used as stopping brakes, but do not use the holding brakes as stopping brakes too often or the mechanical backlash caused by stopping with the holding brakes can damage the motor and wear out the brakes. To stop a rotating motor shaft, set the MPL-A430H-SJ72AA servo drive to 0 rpm, engage the brakes, then disable the drive. This will allow the MPL-A430H-SJ72AA to be serviced and prevent a badly-tuned motor shaft from wearing out the breaks. Make sure to install the cables to the MPL-A430H-SJ72AA servo motor so that the motor’s life will be prolonged and that its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) will be as high as possible. For best results, use the shortest possible wires, route I/O, serial, encoder, and other noise-sensitive wirings away from the motor and input power wiring, separate the cables by about 1 foot for 30 feet of parallel cable run length, and ground both ends of the encoder cable’s shield to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI).
