The Allen-Bradley MPL-B310P-MK74AA servo motor is a low-inertia servo motor. When installing the motor, care should be taken to avoid striking the motor shaft, pulleys, or couplings with tools since this is capable of causing damage to these parts and the feedback device. Also, for the MPL-B310P-MK74AA servo motor to reach its optimum potential, sufficient clearances should be provided around the motor. The clearances help in allowing for an adequate flow of air in and out of the motor. As such, the temperature around the motor is kept within the required operating range. As a way to regulate the temperature around the motor, make sure that heat-producing devices are not placed near it. Note that the motor’s external surfaces can reach high temperatures which can cause burns, especially when the motor is in operation. Note that the outer motor casing gets hot since the motor uses the metallic outer casing to dissipate heat. Consequently, the selection of cables and mating connections to use must be taken with care.
Additionally, when mounting the Allen-Bradley MPL-B310P-MK74AA servo motor, ensure that the belt loading adheres to the motor limit and that all of the pulleys and belts are well aligned. The MPL-B310P-MK74AA servo motor is part of the Allen-Bradley MPL series of motors. Motors in this series employ an innovative winding technology that yields up to 40% higher torque per unit size than conventional servo motors do. These motors can be applied in applications that require high levels of power from a space-saving motor. These applications include electronics assembly, metal forming, converting, packaging, material handling, and automotive applications. The MPL-B310P-MK74AA servo motor features a multi-turn high-resolution encoder.
