This permanent magnet rotary servo motor by Allen Bradley, the MPL-B420P-SJ72AA, belongs to the MP-Series low–inertia series of motors. It has an operating voltage of 400 Volts and rated power output of 1.9 kW. Its frame size is 115 millimeters and it weighs around 4.3 kilograms (9.4 pounds). The MPL-B420P-SJ72AA is ideal for packaging, material handling, and other motion control applications requiring low inertia. The MPL-B420P-SJ72AA has a rated speed, base speed, and maximum speed of 5000 RPM, with single turn high-resolution encoder feedback. It measures 190.0 millimeters (7.48 inches) in length and 140.1 millimeters (5.52 inches) in height. It has a shaft length of 40.0 millimeters (1.575 inches) with a tolerance of ± 0.7 millimeters (± 0.028 inches) and diameter of 19.0 millimeters (0.748 inches). The MPL-B420P-SJ72AA has an operating temperature of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius (32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit).  And should, if possible, be stored at a temperature of  -30 to 70 degrees Celsius (-22 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit)  at a relative humidity of 5 to 95%, non-condensing, in a non-corrosive environment. The MPL-B420P-SJ72AA is an IP66 (dust tight, powerful water jets, room temperature water) certified module. It has radial load force ratings of 45 kilograms (99 pounds) at 5000 RPM, 51 kilograms (112 pounds) at 3500 RPM, 62 kilograms (137 pounds) at 2000 RPM, and 78 kilograms (172 pounds) at 1000 RPM.
Its axial load force with maximum radial load ratings are 18 kilograms (40 pounds) at 5000 RPM, 21 kilograms (46 pounds) at 3500 RPM, 27 kilograms (60 pounds) at 2000 RPM, and 36 kilograms (79 pounds) at 1000 RPM. Its axial load force with zero radial load ratings are 25 kilograms (55 pounds) at 5000 RPM, 30 kilograms (66 pounds) at 3500 RPM, 38 kilograms (84 pounds) at 2000 RPM, and 51 kilograms (112 pounds) at 1000 RPM. To begin mounting the motor, the user is recommended to first provide sufficient clearance and air cooling space along with heat sink mass to ensure that the motor stays within the ideal temperature range of 0 to 40  degrees Celsius (32 to 104  degrees Fahrenheit).  The axial and the radial shaft loads should not exceed the limits mentioned above. The motor is to be positioned such that its connectors point downward. Then, insert the fasteners in the four mounting holes and hand-tighten the fasteners. Verify the correct alignment of the motor on the machine by using the mounting pilot hole, then tighten the fasteners with a torque of 0.8 to 1.0 N-m (7 to 9 pounds on an inch). To verify for electrical phasing of the motor and correct encoder positioning, rotate the shaft. When attaching the Threaded DIN (M4) Cable Plugs, install the O-rings, For the SpeedTec DIN (M7) Cable Plugs, do not install the O-rings An O-ring on the feedback connector is necessary to achieve the maximum environmental rating. Form a drip loop to carry liquids away from the motor connection. Hand-tighten the collar on the plug for proper connection. Do not apply excessive force when connecting the cable plug and the connector. Realign the flat surfaces if the plug and connector do not go together with light hand force.
