The MPL-B4520P-RK24AA MPL series servo motor is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This high-output brushless AC rotary servo motor has an advanced design that delivers high torque in a compact frame. Its superior winding technology and permanent high-energy magnets in its rotor are able to produce around 40% more torque and greater acceleration than other servo motors are capable of. The high output of the MPL-B4520P-RK24AA servo motor is made possible by the permanent magnet stack that provides rigidity to the motor stator. Its frame size is 5.12 inches and its magnet stack is 2 inches long. This servo motor belongs to the 400 Volts voltage class of motors with its 460 Volts windings. The base speed of the servo motor is 5000 RPM. It comes with a DC-operated spring-set holding brake which releases when 24 Volts DC external voltage is applied. The holding brake is designed to hold the motor shaft at 0 RPM, and it can sometimes be used as a motor stopping brake, but using it as a stopping brake creates rotational mechanical backlash on the rotor which could damage the system.

The Allen-Bradley MPL-B4520P-RK24AA MPL series brushless servo motor is outfitted with a resolver encoder which makes it well suited for sturdy applications in extreme conditions. The resolver feedback connector is a circular bayonet-style connector that faces the motor shaft. The 3 bayonet connectors are the feedback, power, and brake connectors and they are located at the bottom of the motor housing and they should all be facing downwards when mounting the servo motor. The bayonet cables on the MPL-B4520P-RK24AA servo motor can be easily transitioned to the newer circular DIN cables via the Allen-Bradley 2090 series motor power and feedback transition cables that are available separately as an MPL series motor accessories. A shaft key is not included with this servo motor. However, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation provides a wide range of optional accessories for the motor, including an optional shaft seal kit that provides the motor with an IP 66 ingress protection rating. The MPL-B4520P-RK24AA servo motor has a standard IP 50 ingress protection rating without a shaft seal.
