The power monitor measures the current and voltage in electrical circuits. The information is communicated to SCADA systems, in applications such as FactoryTalk EnergyMatrix and programmable controller applications. The 1408-EM3A-485 module is an energy, demand, and power monitor. Hardware features available on the 1408-EM3A-485 module include an RS-485 serial port, an LCD for data display, module status indicators, network status indicators, LCD interface buttons, sensing terminals for voltage and current, and control power and ground wiring terminals.



 



The 1408-EM3A-485 module can measure various parameters including the kilowatt, kVA, kVAR, power factor, kilowatt-hours, voltage, current, frequency, voltage/current unbalance, kilowatt demand, projected kilowatts demands, and demand power factor parameters. The environmental specifications for the 1408-EM3A-485 module include a -10 to 60 degrees Celsius operating temperature range, a -40 to 85 degrees Celsius storage temperature range, and a 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range. Only 22 to 14 AWG copper wire should be used for terminations on the terminal blocks. The recommended torque for the wire termination is 0.8 N-m.
