The Allen-Bradley 150-E104NCE-FC Smart Motor Controller is a soft starter solution specifically designed for working on elevator and escalator control panels. It is commonly known as an Allen-Bradley SMC Elevator Controller and is well-suited to facilitate the installation, configuration, and normal operation of electric motors in hydraulic elevator and hydraulic escalator applications. The most popular type of motor for those applications is the 3-phase standard squirrel cage induction motor, and the Allen-Bradley 150-E104NCE-FC Smart Motor Controller can be connected directly to 6-lead or 12-lead Wye-Delta (Star-Delta) or standard 3-lead or 9-lead motors. It comes from the factory in a single plate that includes the Allen-Bradley 150-E104NCE-FC Smart Motor Controller, a coordinated fault contactor, and a pre-wired control harness. The mounting plate is easy to adapt for replacing legacy Wye-Delta electromechanical starting systems.
The Allen-Bradley 150-E104NCE-FC Smart Motor Controller has a built-in overload relay and SCR bypass to control all three phases that need to be connected. It helps to decrease current surges on weak electrical systems because the acceleration ramps are user-adjustable. Its nominal Horsepower rating varies depending on the power supply voltage, and it can be 30 Horsepower for 200 Volts AC, 40 Horsepower for 240 Volts AC, 60 Horsepower for 480 Volts AC, and 100 Horsepower for 575 Volts AC. This model needs to be powered by 120 Volts of control voltage, so it is very important to pay attention to the supply voltage before purchasing the controller. Like most soft starters currently on the market, it needs to be installed inside a protected enclosure because of its open style of construction.
