The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation VPL-B1002M-CK12AA brushless servo motor is a low-inertia servo motor from the VPL series. The VPL-B1002M-CK12AA is an Allen-Bradley low-inertia servo motor from the Kinetix VP (Bulletin VPL) series of products. This rotary motor is compatible with the Kinetix 5700 and the Kinetix 5500 servo drive family due to its options of winding. The innovative, compact design of the motor keeps the costs at a minimum and saves energy while increasing the performance and reliability of the motor. The motor weighs an astounding 3.56 kilograms (7.85 pounds) and has a rotor inertia of 0.000078 kilograms per square meter (0.00069 lp-in-s2). The dimensions of the motor are as follows (H x W x L): 131.2 millimeters (5.17 Inches) x 26.6 millimeters (1.05 Inches) x 195.2 millimeters (7.68 Inches). The voltage of the VPL-B1002M-CK12AA is 400 Volts, and the rated speed is 6000 revolutions per minute. This brushless motor comes with a double high-power magnet stack and it has a smooth shaft. When it comes to the mounting flange, this 100-millimeter frame size motor uses an IEC metric flange with free Type FF mounting holes. The motor has no brake.

The VPL-B1002M-CK12AA comes with a Hiperface DSL Protocol that is used to send real-time information regarding the performance of the motor to the control system. More specifically, the motor uses an 18-bit single-turn encoder which has a resolution for 262,144 counts per revolution and it gives feedback on the absolute position in 1 turn. Furthermore, the motor uses a single cable and a right angle connector for connectivity. The single SpeedTec DIN connector rotates 325 degrees, allowing for a better alignment of the motor with the machine. The single-cable technology, however, means that the users must not build their own cables, but rather purchase the cables manufactured by Allen-Bradley. Furthermore, the motor can withstand ambient and storage temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). The VPL-B1002M-CK12AA can tolerate 20G of peak shock for a duration of 6 milliseconds and 2.5 G peak vibration at 30 to 2000 Hertz. If the values of the aforementioned specifications are exceeded, the result may be motor failure. Hence, caution and careful inspection of environmental conditions are advised.
