The Allen-Bradley 1440-ACNR module is a device called the XM ControlNet Adapter. It serves as a communication adapter for the Allen-Bradley1440-DYN02-01RJ module by providing an interface for controlling this module on an XM Bus. Its main function is the transfer of data to a processor over a ControlNet network, taking advantage of this high-speed transport network for communicating time-critical I/O, interlocking data, messaging data, including the upload/download of programming, and configuration data on a single physical media link.

The Allen-Bradley 1440-ACNR module is an XM ControlNet adapter module. It serves as a communication adapter module for the Allen-Bradley 1440-DYN02-01RJ module by providing an interface for controlling this module on an XM Bus. Its main function is the transfer of data to a processor over a ControlNet network. It takes advantage of this high-speed transport network for communicating time-critical I/O, interlocking data, messaging data, including the uploading and downloading of programming data and configuration data on a single physical media link. Some of the features supported by the Allen-Bradley 1440-ACNR XM ControlNet adapter module are the control of the I/O on the XM Bus, the addition of measurement modules by connecting them directly to the adapter, unscheduled messaging data for the configuration and retrieval of data, and the local communication network access through the network access port (NAP).

From a hardware perspective, the Allen-Bradley 1440-ACNR XM ControlNet adapter module features 4 status LEDs that indicate the status of the adapter, the backplane, and the network. It also has two channels (A and B) and coax receptacles for a BNC connection and ControlNet node address push wheel switches for configuring the module’s node address. For external communications and configuring, it furnishes a Network Access Port (NAP) that serves as a programming interface for maintenance purposes, and I/O monitoring. The Allen-Bradley 1440-ACNR XM ControlNet adapter module needs to be connected to a 24 Volts power supply and it is designed to be installed inside an appropriately protected enclosure, given its open construction. It is not intended for use in residential installations and may be affected by radio interferences if used in such an environment.
