The Allen-Bradley 1440-TB-A module is a standard dynamic measurement module which is part of the XM series by Allen-Bradley. This module belongs to a group of distributed machine condition protection and monitoring devices. The 1440-TB-A module is a 2-channel general-purpose monitor, and it is used to measure dynamic inputs like the pressure, vibration, position, and strain measurements. This module mostly monitors the casing, shaft, and pedestal vibration in equipment that rotates. The accepted inputs include non-contact eddy current probes, velocity transducers, standard integrated electronics piezoelectric (IEPE) accelerometers, and DC or AC voltage output measurement devices. In addition, the 1440-TB-A module also supports a tachometer input which provides speed measurement, as well as order analysis functions.
The 1440-TB-A module is compatible with the majority of the tachometer signal sources, like an unpowered magnetic probe, eddy current probe, and other tachometer sensors (both powered and unpowered). The outputs comprise digital measures, which can be communicated through a DeviceNet network, two 4 to 20 mA analog outputs, and one onboard relay. Each vibration output channel and tachometer input come with an output buffer. The 1440-TB-A module supports onboard processing for advanced alarm relay logic, as well as critical vibration parameters. Moreover, the 1440-TB-A module can function independently, or it can distribute data to integrated control and automation systems. These systems protect machinery form breakdowns or they inform the operators about unusual conditions or faults. The operation of the 1440-TB-A module requires an XM-940 dynamic measurement module terminal base unit which is not included in the package. The XM-940 module base unit, which is a DIN-Rail-mounted base unit, provides terminations for the field wiring that is needed by the XM vibration modules, and this includes the 1440-TB-A standard dynamic measurement module.
