The 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module processes critical parameters in real-time, and it is used to monitor the current status and predict the future status of industrial machinery, thus providing machinery protection as well as reducing possible downtime. The 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module can be used as an individual system, or it can be integrated within an existing control and automation system. This monitoring module by Allen-Bradley is a 2-channel and general-purpose monitor that supports the monitoring of dynamic inputs like the pressure, strain, and vibration. The 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module can also be used to monitor the casing, shaft, and pedestal vibration in the rotating machinery. The Allen-Bradley 1440-VLF02-01RA module has been designed to be integrated with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controllers, and it should be connected to them via the 1440-ACNR ControlNet adapter.

This module is designed to be mounted on an XM 940 terminal base unit. It is recommended to mount the 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module once the wiring has been connected to the terminal base. This module is only compatible with the XM 940 terminal base unit. During installation, it is important to check whether the keyswitch on the base unit is in position 1. Never try to install the 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module on a different terminal base, and never change the position of the keyswitch once the wiring of the XM 940 terminal base unit is complete. Upon starting up the 1440-VLF02-01RA monitoring module, it performs a self-test. This self-test comprises a status indicator test as well as a device test. Through the status indicator test, the different indicators turn on individually and sequentially for an average of 0.25 seconds.
