The 140U-JDTD3-D22-M circuit breaker is a circuit breaker that has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This breaker belongs to the Allen-Bradley 140U series of circuit breakers. Circuit breakers are widely used in the machine control industry as protective equipment that avoids further damages that are produced by an excessive and abnormal current and a short circuit. Breakers can provide several kinds of protection such as motor protection and branch circuit protection, and when it is installed in a series of equipment, it can protect a whole circuit of equipment. The Allen-Bradley 140U-JDTD3-D22-M circuit breaker comes with three poles. These poles operate alongside each other and even though one of them is in charge of receiving signals, these poles are all synchronized and act together. These poles perform the tripping action once a condition has been detected by the breaker. One of the advantages of using circuit breakers instead of fuses is that breakers can operate again after the fault has been detected and cleared. Fuses are one-time only pieces of equipment that need to be replaced once they have fulfilled their functions.

The Allen-Bradley 140U-JDTD3-D22-M circuit breaker fits into the J Frame and it operates with a current rating of 225 Amps and a voltage rating of 480 Volts. The exact interrupting rating will depend on the voltage that is applied during operations. Even though the Allen-Bradley 140U-JDTD3-D22-M circuit breaker employs temperature to detect current. It has been designed to operate within extreme temperatures. The wiring that is employed must be suitable for operations at a temperature of at least 75 degrees Celsius and it is recommended to analyze the specifications of the breaker and the motor before attempting to install it in a system to make sure that the specifications are all compatible.
