The 1496-N2 Pneumatic Timer is a mechanical-pneumatic timer that is designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. Its maximum operating voltage rating is 600 Volts AC, its maximum current rating is 10 Amps, and its adjustable timing range is 1/20 to 180 seconds while its minimum reset time is 75 milliseconds. The repetitive accuracy of the timer is approximately +/-10%. The 1496-N2 Pneumatic Timer consists of a contact unit with one normally open contact, one normally closed contact, and one quick make and break type of contact. It comes with a temperature range of 0 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and an approximate weight of 0.54 kilograms. The normal temperature variation in an operating environment has only a small effect on its accuracy.

The 1496-N2 Pneumatic Timer is a standard timer that comes with a maintained contact block. After the push rod of the unit is depressed, the button on the contact block must be pressed to reset the contacts. When both contacts are used, they must be at the same polarity. The timing range of the device can be easily changed from 1/20 seconds to 180 seconds by screwdriver adjustment. During the replacement of the contact unit, the toggle blade must remain in the down position. This enables the blade to fit into the notch in the push plate. The 1496-N2 Mechanical-Pneumatic Timer can be mounted with several methods. However, no matter what mounting method is used, make sure that the plane of the device is always perpendicular to the floor to obtain repetitive accuracy and to give the device a long life. It is designed to produce timing in an electrical circuit. This timer utilizes a piston and control valve that is powered by a consistent air supply to ensure safety in industries that have a high risk of fire.
