The switched-mode power supply module that is known as the 1606-XL120DR power supply module is a power distribution unit manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This unit provides power to the devices and circuits rated at 24 Volts DC and it is connected to them at the output side. This switched-mode power supply is most commonly used in N+1 redundant systems in which there are multiple identical power units, one of which is redundant for when a power failure occurs. The 1606-XL120DR module has a dual power supply on its primary side because it can work with both AC and DC power. When the switch on the unit is set to "230V", this selects an AC power supply that can be rated at 100 to 120 Volts AC or 220 to 240 Volts AC (and automatically recognized by the unit). When using DC power, a voltage between 210 and 375 Volts DC can be applied to the input terminals. The nominal output power of this power supply module is 120 Watts and the hold-up time for the output voltage is always greater than 37 milliseconds.
The Allen-Bradley 1606-XL120DR module has outer dimensions of 64 millimeters x 124 millimeters x 102 millimeters. The total weight of the product is 0.62 kilograms. The device is equipped with 1 ready relay that can send signals to intelligent industrial automation devices to tell them that it is ready and operable. The unit’s input current is less than 2.6 Amps when it is powered by 115 Volts AC and it is less than 1.4 Amps when it is powered by 230 Volts AC. The unit is optimized in terms of heat generation, load tolerance, which in the short term may be higher than nominal, and in terms of the space it occupies during installation. The 1606-XL120DR module is easy to mount on a standard DIN rail. This unit uses patented Combicon connectors to connect and disconnect from a machine.
