The Allen-Bradley 1606-XL960E-3 is a switch-mode power supply. This is a 3-phase power supply and operates at a nominal supply voltage of 380 - 480 VAC, 50-60 Hz along with an input current of 1.65 / 1.35A at 3x400 / 480Vac. This power supply module is designed for DIN rail mounting as the default mounting method however, an optional wall mounting bracket with catalog number 1606-XLC can be used to implement panel or wall mounting. The 1606-XLC has an output voltage of 24 VDC nominal with a range of 24 - 28 VDC, output current of 34.3 - 40.0 continuous, and 51.5 - 60.0 Amperes short term output with a duration of Four (4) seconds. The module’s output power rating is 960 Watts (continuous) and 1440 Watts (short term) with the same duration of Four (4) seconds. This module has an efficiency of 95.3 % at 3 x 400 and 95.2 % at 480 VAC while losses are rated at 47.3 Watts at 3x 400 VAC and 48.4 Watts at 480 VAC. It has an operating temperature range of -25 to +70 Degree Celsius with a derating of 24 Watts per Degree Celsius at a temperature range of +60 to +70 Degree Celsius. This power supply exhibits a hold-up time of 25 ms for both 3 x 400 VAC and 480 VAC. The physical dimensions of this power supply are 110x124x127mm (WxHxD) and weigh 1500g / 3.3 lb. Optional accessories available to this power supply module are the 1606-XLSBUFFER24 buffer unit and the 1606-XLSRED80 redundancy module.

The 1606-XL960E-3 module is a standard power supply module that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley as part of the 1606-XL standard switched-mode power supply product series. This three-phase industrial power supply module can operate on an input voltage range of 400 to 500 Volts, a frequency range of 50 to 60 Hertz, a standard power supply voltage range of 24 to 28 Volts DC, and a wide-range input voltage of 480 Volts. The 1606-XL960E-3 power supply has a continuous operational tolerance of 340 to 575 Volts AC and a 1-minute short term tolerance of 300 to 620 Volts AC at 24 Volts and 40 Amps of current. Other specifications include an approximate weight of 3.3 kilograms, measurements of approximately 275 x 124 x 117 millimeters, and a minimum hold-up time of 15 milliseconds. It also has robust screw terminal connections with active transient filter handling and a typical efficiency loss of 78 Watts. Its minimum time before fault (MTBF) is 305,000 hours. The Allen-Bradley 1606-XL960E-3 power supply module has an input current of 3.0 Amps and an inrush current of less than 30 Amps. When using this module, the inrush current limiting is achieved by using a fixed 23R resistor and not a thermistor, which is bridged after the 1606-XL960E-3 unit is put into operation to minimize the losses. This means that even at a warm-start, there is no reset time. If the users need to protect the primary side of their power supplies, they can do so by using circuit breakers or fuses. Alternatively, they can use the supplementary protectors like the 1492-SP3C100 device. To meet the local safety requirements, always consult with the local codes and regulations for proper installation.
