The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1606-XLERED module is a special module from the Bulletin 1606 series of power supply modules and accessories. It cannot support any steady state input currents. The typical output voltage rating of the 1606-XLERED special module is 1 or 0.9 Volts. This module uses DC input voltage instead of AC input voltage like many of the other Bulletin 1606 modules and its DC input voltage range is 24 to 60 Volts DC. The rated output power of the 1606-XLERED special module is 480 Watts and the rated output current is 20 Amps.

The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLERED module is a power supply redundancy module from the 1606-XLE series. This 20 Amps and 480 Watts rated DC power supply redundancy module is applied in systems that require a reliable power supply. This device is installed on systems known as 1 + 1 or N + 1 redundant systems. They always use 1 additional power source that is "redundant" under normal operating conditions, but that redundant unit takes the lead when 1 of the N + 1 power supplies fails. Each power supply must be isolated from all the others, and MOSFETs or diodes are used for this purpose. The 1606-XLERED module does not require any additional auxiliary voltage because it is self-sufficient even when there is a short-circuit generated at the output.
The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLERED module is built to work with 24 to 48 Volts DC input voltage ratings. It receives 2 to 12.5 Amps of current on the input side when it is working in a 1+1 redundant system and 2 x 10 Amps when it is working in an N+1 redundant system. This power supply module is equipped with the low input voltage alarm contacts that are opened if the input voltage drops below 21.5 Volts DC. The operational temperature range of the 1606-XLERED redundancy module is -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. According to the IEC 60068-2-6, its vibration resistance is 2 G, and shock resistance is 30 G for 6 milliseconds. The device is IP 20 rated, and it is equipped with a reverse input polarity detection feature. The 1606-XLERED module has isolation against housing rated at 500 Volts AC or 5 MOhm. Its dimensions are 32 millimeters x 124 millimeters x 117 millimeters.
