The 1606-XLP30B module is a switched-mode power supply module from the XLP series designed by Allen-Bradley. These power supply modules also act as backup units for critical application demands. These modules are widely used in the industrial sector. The input voltage from the AC mains on the module is rectified and filtered by using a capacitor. This device uses high frequency which is isolated with a DC-to-DC switching converter. The 1606-XLP30B module runs with 100 to 240 Volts of AC input voltage and it generates 30 Watts of output power. The terminal of the device has a screw/spring clamp on each side of the device. The device features an adjustable output voltage. It is a single-phase device and it has the ability to boost the startup load. The minimum output DC voltage of the SMPS is 10 Volts and the maximum output DC voltage is 12 Volts. The minimum hold-up time of the SMPS device is 18 milliseconds. The power unit can be attached using the DIN Rail.

The 1606-XLP30B module has a plastic housing with a fine ventilation grid on 3 sides. It has been certified with an IP 20 protection rating. It is not water-resistant and it should be protected against water sprays and damages. A normal convection method is used for cooling the module. No extra fan is required. Hence, the airflow between the nearest ventilation source and the module should not be obstructed by anything. It is recommended to leave 25 millimeters space on each side with the ventilation grid. The 1606-XLP30B module comes with a transient immunity of 750 Volts over a time period of 1.2 milliseconds. The module is equipped with an internal input fuse. Hence, no extra protection is required. The module comes with a rated efficiency of 84%.
