The 1606-XLP90B switched-mode power supply is a 1606 series 12 to 15 Volts DC power supply unit manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The 1606-XLP90B power supply uses semiconductor switching techniques and not standard linear techniques to provide a stable output voltage with a low ripple.  After input fuse protection, filtering, and rectification, this power supply unit employs a power switching stage and an output voltage-regulating circuit as it operates. The output voltage is user-adjustable (12 to 15 Volts DC). The input voltage can be AC voltage rated at 100 to 240 Volts AC or DC voltage rated at 220 to 375 Volts DC. The whole power supply unit can be mounted and wired within seconds with no tools required. The 1606-XLP90B power supply is equipped with a jumper for single/parallel operation selection. The device is delivered in a robust IP 20 rated plastic housing that has a ventilation grid.

The 1606-XLP90B power supply is a 90 Watts rated device that is protected against no-load situations, short-circuits, and overloads. It has a green LED operating indicator and it is equipped with quick-connect spring-clamp terminals. The unit is installed onto a DIN rail with a height of 7.5 or 15 millimeters. The power supply can send a digital signal of a fault over a DC normally-open contact that will open when the output voltage goes below 90% of the nominal value. This contact rating is 42 Volts DC at 0.3 Amps or 30 Volts AC at 0.5 Amps. The radiated interference values for this device are below the EN61000-6-3 standard, even when using unscreened output cables that are longer than 2 meters. The 1606-XLP90B power supply complies with all of the major European Union safety standard approvals.
