The 1606-XLSBUFFER24 SMPS is a 1606 series SMPS developed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. SMPS stands for Switched-Mode Power Supply. This device functions with an input voltage range between 48 and 56 Volts DC. The output power rating of the device is 860 Watts with a regular load. The device is manufactured in a compact size to accommodate different appliances and systems. The 1606-XLSBUFFER24 SMPS is a buffer type of SMPS. It is a supplementary device for regulated power supplies. It supplies power when there is a bridge failure of the DC voltage supply or it helps in extending the time after the loss of the AC power. This spring clamped SMPS variant uses 90 Amps of output current and it uses the DC-OK signal. The device is manufactured in such a way that the heat dissipation of the device is kept minimal. This ensures the long-lasting health of the device. The output voltage of the device can be adjusted whenever the operators desire.
The 1606-XLSBUFFER24 SMPS uses service-free electrolytic capacitors for energy storage. This allows the device to be used at temperatures in the range of 70 degrees Celsius. The buffer stores energy in the electrolytic capacitors when the power supply delivers enough voltage. When the mains is off, the energy is routed from the capacitors. The 1606-XLSBUFFER24 SMPS has the ability to operate normally with 2 G vibrations. It can also operate with 30 G shocks for 6 milliseconds and with 20 G shocks for 11 milliseconds. The device has dimensions of 64 x 124 x 102 millimeters. The SMPS weighs 740 grams. The device has an operating temperature range between -25 and 70 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range of the device lies between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. The device has 1.9 Watts of power losses in standby mode.
