The Allen-Bradley 1774-C12 computer interface module is made up of the main control unit and status and fault monitors. The status and fault monitors ensure that the users have a simple troubleshooting experience. These monitors have status and fault indicator lights that are important when it comes to inputting and debugging the user programs. The unit's yellow LEDs should glow solid when all the communication applications at the communication ports are operating correctly. Blinking yellow LEDs show that there is both valid and erroneous communications at the ports. If the yellow LEDs are off, this shows that there is no valid communication at the ports. The 1774-C12 interface module features two communication ports that can easily configured for the RS-232, the RS-422/RS-485, half-duplex, or the RS-422/RS-485 full-duplex communications setups with external devices.
To ensure continuous communication with the other Allen-Bradley modules, the 1774-C12 interface module connects to them through a 25-pin computer interface on the interconnect cable. The module utilizes both ports, and in this way it achieves seamless communication. One of the ports on the 1774-C12 module should be configured as a master port. The users have the option to leave the retry count, message timeout, and the transmit delay in their default setting or change the status. The Allen-Bradley 1774 series has a number of component modules, including a processor and memory and scanner modules. When it comes to operation, the users should verify that the 1774-C12 interface module is installed correctly. This is done by using a Delta-V diagnostic tool. Verify the port configuration to ascertain that the serial port is activated.
